ABOUT THE ARTIST
Hi, thanks for stopping by on your journey along the information highway. My name is Peter Carroll and I am a Canadian freelance photographer based in Edmonton, Alberta.
What drives me to pick up the camera and take pictures? Well, I'm a glass is half full kind of guy. Why concentrate on the negative when there is so much positive to see if you just look?
I love life's little moments and I aim to bring that passion to my work. I try and use the camera as a tool to draw attention to what I see as the extraordinary in the everyday.
It is this focus on the beauty and wonder of life that drives me to pick up the camera and create images.
Photography, for me, is an artistic pursuit with endless rewards. I consider myself quite fortunate, since I have an
interest in landscape photography, to be living in Western Canada.
My home is the land of big sky and rich colours. I am surrounded by nature's beauty - from
the flat farmland of the Prairies to the majestic peaks of the Canadian Rocky
Mountains. I'm also fortunate to live in an area of the world that experiences the
diversity of four distinct seasons. The range of subjects and their changes throughout
the year make Western Canada a magical playground for me and my camera.
The creation of an image
is always an exciting journey. It is a powerful experience to witness the rising of
the sun to the call of the loon on glass still lake as was the case when I took the photo of the scene below. The challenge, for me as a
photographer, is to use the camera as a tool to record my response to such a moment in time.
My goal is to give an image its own voice. It is my hope that my images speak to you of the
beauty and wonder of the world around us.
